Weekend Grace, Football and Holiday Edition

Y’all.  Can I tell you how much I love long weekends?  And long weekends which involve a lot of football?  It’s my love language.  I don’t know how to properly convey to you the excitement that rattles through the air around these parts when football season starts.  We’ve been nervous for days about our young Volunteers but they did us proud last night.  Rocky Top never sounded so good! All 467 times we heard it.  🙂

It was a pretty good weekend to be stranded with a stress fracture because, well, FOOTBALL!  It also lends itself to reading and writing nonstop, which has become my life.  I’m in a walking boot for a few weeks and I must confess that I did ask my dear orthopedic surgeon friend why in world cam walkers didn’t come in the shape of cowboy boots.  He asked me why in the world I continue running when I end up with a stress fracture or torn muscle every other year.   I told him about how I’d likely land myself in a funny farm in a straight jacket without running, in which case we agreed that a cam walker for a few weeks isn’t so bad after all.

I hope your football teams had a great weekend too and that you’re enjoying some much needed rest and relaxation!

If summer was for monster cookies, then fall is for chocolate chip pumpkin muffins.  I never want to face a weekend without them again.  Try them, gentle friends!

For a my favorite early football season fashion, I’m ALL about white jeans.  Stitch Fix sent me a great pair of white skinnies and I have a feeling I’ll be wearing them out for fall.  (Stitch Fix is like Christmas every month.  Find out more here!)  And don’t worry about the supposed rule of no white after Labor Day.  White is for all year round, my friends.  I hereby declare it!  Also, plenty of wristies from Noonday and some cowboy boots will make your fall fashion complete.

    Voted for them – – my favorite life{in}grace soup is the Chicken Barley Pumpkin Chipotle Soup! (I use butternut squash instead, but it’s sooooo amazing! I wonderful tummy warmer! So excited for soup weather!

    I haven’t lived in the south for 30 yes. But I still can’t where white after labor day! My grandmother would rise up and haunt me! LOL! And my Mississippi in-laws would come after me.

    It’s been awhile since we made the pumpkin muffins so I had to back track and remember where I had used the reciepe and should have known they were from you;). My kids LOVE them! Thank you for the reciepe, we are making them tonight to be ready for breakfast in the morning before school!
    Hope your stress fracture heals fast…….boots and all.
    We are Gator fans here so didn’t get much of a game started with all that lightening!

    Sorry to hear about your ‘boot’. I just saw a couple of very fit women on these today – they were moving a lot faster than any joggers or bikers. I don’t know if they are the ultimate in dorkiness, or super cool. Regardless, it looked like a great lower impact than running workout…. http://www.elliptigo.com/

    Love your writing and your zest for life, God, and your family! You are so much fun! Going to try some of your recipes, especially the honey wheat bread. Been looking all weekend for a local source of red hard wheat that will also grind it for you. No luck yet, but my hunt is not finished! I’m a single momma with two college students living at home, a house that needs much to make it a home and a therapy career to restart. You have so many great ideas and accomplish so much with your time. You really encourage me!

    Just about every animal and insect you can think of,
    is now replicated in soft, miniature form. Even when the bearded dragon baby is at age of 8 weeks, they are considered hatching or very
    young. The rocks may also ruin the heat gradient of the tank.

    I’ve been waiting for the college football season to start ever since last season finished…Auburn has unfinished business with FL St. But the Tigers had a great day on Saturday, with a wonderful win against Arkansas. I may not have lived in AL for 27 years, but I’m still a loyal AU fan.
