31 Days|Day 29 The Kitchen, her highness

This is the 3rd kitchen I’ve done in 3 years.    Right after I finished the first kitchen remodel, we moved to the lake.  I loved her–-the turquoise kitchen. She’ll always be special to me.

Then there was the lake kitchen remodel. And much to your chagrin surprise, I did a white layered palette.   I really liked that kitchen too but again, we only enjoyed her for a few months before the fire.

Laurel Cove Kitchen is her own woman.   She may seem a little high-falutin’, what with her crystal chandelier and her marble countertops.   But once you get to know her, you’ll realize that despite her proper exterior, she’s a workhorse willing to serve.

This weekend, she entertained the family with style.  She served roasted turkey and butternut squash soup, the best ever beef stew, smoked turkey and potatoes, and chipotle pumpkin barley soup.  On the sweets side, there were gingersnaps, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins,  apple cake with caramel icing and strawberry pretzel salad.  It was like a fall festival in your mouth:)

It was so much fun seeing how the kitchen functions in action—-she’s perfect.   Roomy but cozy, pretty but functional.  Mary AND Martha.

I’ll let you enjoy the pics and I’ll try to post sources tomorrow.

(a Le Creuset pot  is always on the stove and usually full  of yummies)

(I stole the idea of the fall leaves in the white transferware from Country Living)

(loving the open island—so easy to get the dishes out and put away)

This is the baking center and all the baking supplies and measuring utensils and stored in those drawers.

(where all the magic happens)

This will likely be the first and last time you see this kitchen in this state.   A table has been ordered and fabrics are being chosen to grace the windows and the chairs.

But I love her now too!  And am so thankful everytime I am lucky enough to cook and bake and live here:)

Beautiful!  I love every little thing you’ve done.  Your kitchen says…use me…work hard in me…and then sit and rest and chat among friends.
God really does have a way of making beauty out of ashes.  You have an amazing testimony.  Thank you for the creative visual decorative inspiration.  But, more importantly for the inspiration of the heart.  Your kitchen rocks Edie…and so do you!!!  To God be the glory!

edie, we are in the process of picking out a microwave.  is yours the ‘built-in’ microwave or a counter microwave with the cabinet trim built around it to fit?  just trying to tell from your pictures.  i am just not sure which way to go on the microwave deal.  and what brand is yours?

    • http://lifeingraceblog.com edie wadsworth

      hi lauren!
it’s a kitchen aid and it’s the smallest one they make—-24 inches i think with the smallest trim kit. it works just fine though we don’t use the microwave that much anyways. hope it’s all going well for you!!!

I’m in awe.  The colors, the ceiling, the light fixture…the overall style… I love it.  It helps that I love gray, and have it and other colors in my kitchen, too.  I just found you, thanks to the link on August Fields, and plan to be a regular now.  Nice to find another Christian, homeschooling blogger sharing her life and home.  What wonderful rooms you have!  I’m going to share this link on my blog’s facebook page.

Stunning.  Edie, God is so GOOD!  I’ve followed for awhile but have just been a silly stalker; you have truly been an inspiration (bet you’ve heard that one quite a bit, haven’t you?)  :-)   You and Darlene have done a great job on the house; I could watch the videos again and again.  Thanks for sharing your heart and your life and your home!

What a gorgeous, liveable kitchen.  I too would feel blessed if it were mine to cook in, eat in and live in.  You did a beautiful job!

  • Karli Hearron

Eddie, This is the most beautiful kitchen I’ve ever seen! I’m soooo in love.

  • Kathy

Absolutely gorgeous! What a gift from God. You are such an inspiration as you share your heartbreaking journey and I’m so happy to see you happy! You have given me a vision for my kitchen renovation! Although it’s much smaller, I see ways to make it beautiful with your ideas and advice. One question please: I looked at your links to your previous kitchens (love them too) and I’m wondering if you liked the open cabinets? I notice you don’t have as many in this kitchen. Did they get dusty? Thanks and enjoy!

Edie, I love, Love, LOVE IT ALL!  Gorgeous!  Love all your choices, from your beautiful painted cabinets to the leading on the glass!   I love your cart with your beautiful crocks on it!  I have a giant one that was my grandpa’s and I put my papers in it for my fireplace.  Your kitchen has so much beautiful character!  Oh and I have the same microwave, I’m like you, dont’ use it much at all. I almost didn’t put one in and  my hubby (who never says anything about anything) wanted it, so we got this small one and love it!  I love your faucet and hardware, I could go on and on and on!    Did you print the labels on your baking glass jars? I LOVE them and want them! LOL!  Anyway, I’m going back to look at your beautiful kitchen again!  I want to sit at your table and eat something wonderful that your always making!!! :)
    xoxo

Hi there, I would love to know where you found your rolling island? Also, do you always keep it in front of the door or does it have an alternative home? We’ve just redone our kitchen, which is long and narrow and I am trying to convince my husband that a rolling island will work! Thanks, liz

This kichen is wonderful! I love many things about it. I am at the start of our first ever kitchen remodel…I am wondering are your ceilings 8′ or 9′ high? I am leaning towards the ceiling height cabinets.
