Driving into school this morning, I say, “Tom,look!” And I get interrupted by, “Mom, I know what you’re gonna say, it’s the sunrise and ain’t it pretty, I know it already. You say it every dang day.”

That’s okay buddy. It’s my job to annoy you. 😂🤠🤠❤️❤️❤️

I went to the wedding early to help and when Stevie walked up and hugged his sister (the bride) he couldn’t hold the tears. Neither could she. The stoic, tender paradox which is the Wadsworth trademark.

The day was so lovely. I wasn’t gonna dance because we wanted to leave early to meet our kids. But then Johnny and June started belting out Jackson and Tom ran over and said, “Mom, you HAVE to come dance, they’re playing that song.”😂😂😂🥳

Am I raising him right or WHAT??
(🎵we got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout🎵)

As soon as we got home, I got a horrible phone call from my sister that my little mama was being airlifted to Knoxville with a splenic rupture and had lost a lot of blood. It was a long, scary night but she is a fighter and stable and we are praying for a full recovery.

All day I’ve been in a weird state of prayer/meditation/gratefulness and keep thinking about Buechner’s quote, “Herein lies the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Do not be afraid.”

Hug your people tight.
Call your mama.

Today my little Em turns 20😭😭😍😍🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

It’s the weirdest season for us. Both girls gone to college. Trying to figure out our lives without them. And trying to keep up with Tom Sawyer.

But one thing I know for sure is—I can’t begin to imagine us without the most darling, kind and funny birthday girl in the world. Love you @emme.mae ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I spent my 20’s in medical school, wishing the time would hurry and pass so I could finally get a REAL job.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I somehow thought that would solve all my problems and take away any self-doubt or striving or stress or shame.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It was a long wait, but eventually I got that job and it didn’t do anything to ease the complicated weirdness that comes along with being one of the humans.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My whole life has felt like a strange practice of waiting—for the job, the spouse, the kids, the peace, the wholeness, the money, the house, the magic.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Somewhere along the way, I’ve learned that the magic is what you create when you finally realize that nothing you’re waiting for will put all the pieces together.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We are moving out of my office this week so this guy came home with me and is looking mighty fine by my stove. We are selling some of our stuff (both from my house and from my office) this Saturday from 10-2. I’ll post more in stories and on Facebook this week about what we have for sale so keep an eye out!
