12 Days of Handmade Christmas Tutorials Day 12 {Christmas Tags}

Whew!!! I don’t know about you but I’m kinda sad it’s day 12! I’ve had so much fun with this series and am most grateful for the wonderful contributors who have given of their time and ideas to make it all happen! Let’s recap:

On the 12th day of Christmas, my blog friend gave to me
And today, Darby’s back to show us how to create beautiful sticker tags from Microsoft Word so that our packages will be just perfect! I first saw this on her blog a couple months ago and made it right away. Her directions are flawless and even my sometimes technically-challenged self could follow right along. You must give it a try!

The following is a pic-tutorial of how to create your own labels in Microsoft Word.
A few words to the wise:
1. Print on plain paper first
2. Use solid sheets of “label paper” {so they will be stickers–that you can cut out in your desired shape}. Be sure you get ink jet paper for an ink jet printer or laser paper for a laser printer.
3. Make your margins smaller so you can squeeze more on a page

Start by inserting a shape/object onto your document and then size it according to your preference.

And just to prove to you that you can do it, look what I made yesterday! Thanks so much Darby for your endless inspiration!

Note: For all you who are considering bifocals {like me} here’s the link to the post on Darby’s blog. You can click on her pictures to enlarge them! You’re welcome.

She has just opened her Etsy shop so if you aren’t making any handmade gifts yourself, you can buy some of her wonderful creations, while helping to support the cause for mom artists. She also happens to be wonderful language teacher and is currently teaching my girls Spanish and Latin. You should hear them conjugate!

Since I don't know how to sew this is one of the things I actually CAN make! :) Adorable!

CarolNovember 12, 2009 - 1:51 pm

How do yo do it if you have a mac? I love those tags and would like to try my hand at them. Not sure if there is a way on a mac computer.

Kendra @ Domestic Princess in TrainingNovember 12, 2009 - 1:58 pm

What a great idea!
I don’t want the 12 days of Christmas to be over. I love looking everyday to see what goodies I can recreate. So far I’ve done the coasters, tassels, I bought a shirt yesterday to make apron, and have plans to make a batch of fudge for my Christmas goodies gift basket…..so much fun!!! It’s like saying good buy to your favorite TV show (for me it was Friends) or finishing a good book (Twilight). So much fun you just want it to go on forever.

Thanks Edie for organizing all of this :0)

Brenna BallNovember 12, 2009 - 2:16 pm

I discovered Darby's blog when I started mine. My boyfriend's girlfriend and I love everything she has posted. I saw this on her site as well, and I plan to do these for my Christmas gifts, too! I've loved the 12 days of Handmade Christmas. Too bad it's over! If it weren't for Darby's blog, I would have never discovered yours. I look forward to seeing more of your blog in the future!

Very cool idea! Thanks for doing this series, it's been lots o' fun!!

edieNovember 12, 2009 - 2:48 pm

Dear Carol,
I made mine using a MAC and it was a bit different—just because the set up of the Word program is different–but I was able to follow it nonetheless and the labels turned out great. To start the process, make sure you formatting palette is showing (check it under 'view') and then you should be able to find how to add an object.

Thanks girls for letting me know all the stuff you've tried. I can't wait to try more of them myself!

Chocolate-Covered Chaos...November 12, 2009 - 2:50 pm

One question….when I copy, should it copy everything in my circle, or just the circle?
