I subscribed to your blog awhile ago and all of the sudden, I'm not receiving your new posts. I just went in to re-subscribe in case I accidentally did something on my end and a message popped up stating that I'm already subscribed to your blog. Odd, I'm not sure what's going on.

I found your blog last night via Adriane Dorr's blog. I'm thrilled! If I hadn't been so dang tired, I would have stayed up all night reading it. I'm an East Tennessee girl, now living in Middle Tennessee, who was raised Southern Baptist, who had given up on church, and almost on faith, until I met a good lookin', sweet as pie, LCMS boy at the University of Tennessee in 1994. The pure, unadulterated - it is not about what I have done, but about what Christ has done for me - Gospel saved me! I've been a Lutheran ever since, and been married to that good lookin' LCMS man since 1996. Thanks to him I have three beautiful blond haired, blue-eyed 'babies', the oldest of which just turned 11, and he's almost as tall as me. His sisters are 8 and 5, and starting last year I became their teacher, at home, in our crazy house! Homeschooling has been the hardest thing I've ever done, but I love it and how it has changed our family. I like to say that when I didn't die enough to self after two kids, God gave me a third. And when I didn't die enough to self after that, He made me a homeschool mom ;)

Last summer I started studying more about theology and all things Lutheran. Since I started homeschooling my children last year using a Chatlotte Mason/Classical method, I've become much more interested in theology and traditional worship. Frankly, I don't want to mess up when it comes to teaching them Bible. Everything is written from a Reformed point of view and I want them to know the true Gospel and not be shackled by works righteousness like I was for so long.

So, enough about me. I just wanted you to know how excited I am to find your blog and to know that someone else out there, probably just a few hours from me (not exactly sure where you are in Tennessee) is an LCMS homeschool mom. Some days it feels like I'm the only one.

I just found your blog this morning while showing my husband Emily's blog about "Dare to paint your cupboards black". I've been reading your blog all day. I live in MN right near the Mississippi River. Your blog is filled with inspiration, your home is beautiful, I love the fireplace on the porch, what a great idea. I too experienced a fire, although it was not my home it was when I made a courageous move to open a gift store called "My Friend's Country Porch" after my first year of business my store burnt a couple days after I had left for a vacation in Maui. I was devestated, even thou I didn't lose my home I lost alot of family antiques I used for displays, and alot of myself in that fire I poured my heart into that shop. I did reopen after 6 months and added a coffee shop. I was open 7 years total but closed in 2004. I am now a homehealth aide where I fill my heart taking care of people who need my help. Especially my 30 year old "boy" I call him who has severe CP and retardation. He is my buddy. I have a plaque in my bathroom I read everyday " A truth I've learned in passing years , significant, sublime...That All life's problems right themselves
if only given time"
Thanks for your blog I so look forward to reading it daily and catching up on what I missed!

Thank you for putting into words and photos the beauty of your home and the faith of your soul. This combination will draw me back to your blog again and again. Lovely...your home, your heart and your grateful thanksgiving to our Lord!

Found your blog via House of Turquoise. Thank goodness! I'm home recovering from a "Tango dancing" incident and read everything I could open to catch up. We're almost neighbors with many things on your list in common except that we are Yankees and arrived after 15 moves, most on behalf of my husband's career at Alcoa. I was looking at your sources for the "HOT" post and quickly realized we love to shop at many of the same places. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ours was casual too due to the dance incident-or the trip I took over my husband's box of summer clothes. what a joy it was to have everyone under one roof if only for the weekend!
