Steve’s father passed away this week. We are heartbroken and grieving and would appreciate your prayers; especially for his mom, who lost her husband of 57 years and who spent the last few years sacrificing so much to care for him at home. The gift Steve’s father gave me is one I’ll never be able to repay. So much of the life and love I enjoy today is because of how this man devoted himself to his family.  I’m so thankful for the legacy that Eddie leaves, for the strong foundation he laid for his family, for the hilarious one liners that live on in all who knew him, and for the gift of faith in Christ, which was the cornerstone of his life. We will miss you, Eddie.

Hug those you love extra tight today.  Make sure they know how much you care.

  3. I am so very sorry for the loss of that wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. As I watch a friend struggle through the days of waiting after her father’s terrible accident, I am reminded that God’s mercies are new every morning. May He give you all comfort and peace during this time.

  4. My husband died a couple of months ago. In the obituary I said “give your loved ones an extra hug and make sure that they know that you love them”. That is what life really is all about.

  5. Edie,
I am so sorry. It is so sweet when you can have that kind of relationship with an in-law — my father-in-law was a saint. He reminded me of Jed Clampett, he always thought the best of everyone. He was a great influence on my life.

  11. I’m so sorry to hear this, Edie, but what a joy that you were blessed with such an amazing father-in-love and that Steve and all the children had an amazing father and grandfather. God is wonderful to have also blessed them with almost 60 years of marriage. What an example of marital commitment! We mourn with all of you as you adjust to life here on earth without his physical presence. Rejoicing with you that you will be reunited with him in heaven for all of eternity!

  20. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18. “The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.” May all of your family rest in the grace and joy of the Lord that He has supplied to meet your needs.

  21. Praying for all of you. No matter what the circumstances, it’s never easy to say goodbye – even when you know it’s only for a while.

  22. I am so very sorry for your loss. Although I do not know you and this is my very first time visiting, it always grieves my heart to hear about the pain of others. I lost my own dear Dad in November 2003. One does not get over a loss like this, but one does learn how to carry on and cherish the memories, such precious memories! And to know that our dear departed family members leave a legacy through us, well, that is just priceless; not just in the descendants who are left behind, but individually in each of us who has been touched by someone we love deeply, in our thoughts, words, and deeds, in our innermost heart of hearts, the place where the Almightly resides.

  23. Oh, Edie! I am so very sorry. Please know that you, Steve and your family will be in my prayers. May God continue to bring you His comfort and peace.
